In the 1980's Vic had a number of tours in the UK and elsewhere, but here's one in the States - a reminder of:

THE KENNEDY CENTER HONORS: A Celebration of the Performing Arts
in 1987 along with Lucille Ball, Perry Como, Bette Davis, Walter Cronkite, and scores of others.

I didn't get to see this if broadcasted - was living in Italy at the time. I understand Sammy Davis Jr. was the "honoree". Not much info on this, maybe someone could lend a hand.

Surprised For this year, 2005, that's great, Mark! the fantastic Bennett is quite deserving. (Remind me of his forum again, would you?)

But, keeping to the subject, thought you might ...just maybe.... have gotten a peak at the 1987 Vic Damone performance at the KENNEDY CENTER.

Thanks Ann - I thought I read somewhere Sammy DavisJR was honouree.

And if I'm not mistaken here, the "Prisoner of Love" song Vic sang was also the one he chose for the ARTHUR GODFREY talent show Vic appeared as one of his FIRST performances.

Hi Mark!

Somewhere along the line Mr. Damone got cheated out of his! Sorry, but who-the-heck (other than being a "dancer") is 'Suzanne Farrell'?

Not to cast any shadows over the others you mentioned, but my opinion of the LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT (Artistic) awards have really deteriorated over the past few years: they should be left to well-known people who have performed in various genres of the entertainment world ....... screen, recording industry, radio, TV, theatre, and then some.

Very Happy Hi,Norma-
Tony,Robert, Tina,Julie&Suzanne are getting Lifetime Achievement Awards-
Please don't shoot the messenger-I wasn't on the panel of judges.
There is a fuller description of the recipients including Suzanne Farrell in THE WASHINGTON POST of September 6th,2005.From what I've read there, all the recipients are well-deserving of the honor(s).
